A lot goes into a backyard like this. We're talking grading, stone masonry, a decomposed granite patio with steel edging, a built-in seating wall, and a bubbling rock water feature - all working together to make the space actually usable. That's the kind of scope that takes real planning before a single stone gets set.
Here's what we were working with - a pool yard that had good bones but needed structure. The grade had to be addressed first. Without proper grading, water pools in the wrong places, erosion becomes a problem, and everything you build on top of it is fighting an uphill battle. We got that right before anything else.
The stone seating wall ties the whole thing together. It separates the turf area from the pool deck in a way that feels natural, not forced. The bubbling rock water feature sits right alongside it, and that sound alone changes the feel of the space completely. It goes from a yard to somewhere you actually want to spend time.
The DG patio with steel edging keeps things clean and low-maintenance. Steel edging holds that material in place long-term, which matters a lot in a space that gets regular foot traffic. Every detail here was chosen with function in mind - not just how it looks on day one, but how it holds up over time.
This is the kind of work we do across Northwest Arkansas. Hardscapes, stone masonry, retaining walls - projects that require multiple trades working in sequence and a crew that knows how to pull it all together cleanly. Bentonville backyards have a lot of potential, and this one is a solid example of what's possible.
